Turpinot BROOKLYN JAZZ 2. sezonu, aicinām uz enerģisku veltījumu leģendārajam klarnetistam un "svinga karalim" Benny Goodman, kurš 20. gadsimta 30. gados mainīja amerikāņu mūzikas vēsturi— ieviešot svingu plašā apritē un padarot džezu par masu kultūras fenomenu.
Vakara centrā – profesors Indriķis Veitners, džeza vēsturnieks un viens no izcilākajiem Latvijas džeza klarnetistiem un saksofonistiem, kurš ar dzīvu improvizāciju un cieņu pret tradīciju atdzīvinās Gudmena (Benny Goodman) nozīmīgākos skaņdarbus.

Benny Goodman ne tikai definēja veselu ēru, bet arī pārkāpa robežas – gan muzikāli, gan sociāli. Viņa ansambļi bija vieni no pirmajiem, kuros spēlēja mūziķi no dažādām rasu grupām, un tas būtiski veicināja džeza mūzikas attīstību, padarot to par iekļaujošu, sabiedriski nozīmīgu mākslas formu.
Gudmens (Benny Goodman) reiz teica: “If a guy’s got it, let him give it. I’m selling music, not prejudice.” Šis būs vakars, kurā svinēsim gan svinga dzirksti, gan drosmi pārkāpt robežas. Tiekamies Džeza Mājā!

As BROOKLYN JAZZ Season 2 continues, we invite you to an energetic tribute to Benny Goodman, the legendary clarinetist and "King of Swing" who changed the history of American music in the 1930s - introducing swing to the mainstream and making jazz a mass cultural phenomenon.
The evening will be centred on Professor Indriķis Veitners, jazz historian and one of Latvia's greatest jazz clarinettists and saxophonists, who will bring Benny Goodman's most important compositions to life with lively improvisation and respect for tradition.

Benny Goodman not only defined an entire era, but also broke boundaries - both musically and socially. His ensembles were among the first to feature musicians from different racial groups.
Goodman once said: "If a guy's got it, let him give it. I'm selling music, not prejudice."
